    Production of diaphragm pumps

    For over 70 years, Catterin pumps has been making powerful, robust and reliable industrial pumps. Years of experience ensure that the industrial pumps we produce have a longer life span than those of our direct competitors, thanks to the quality of the design and the carefully chosen materials and components.

    Our industrial pumps can be applied to both fixed and towed sprayers.

    Catterin pumps, makers of diaphragm pumps, agriculture pumps, high pressure spraying pumps and industrial pumps. The pumps can be fitted either to transported or to towed sprayers and atomizers.

    CATTERIN PUMPS brand is synonymous with professionalism.

    INDUSTRIAL PUMPS

    A pump is a device that can be used for liquids or gases. The term "pump" is more suitable for devices that have the function to move liquids, while "compressors" are used to move gaseous fluids.

    Typology - Rotary pumps can be of different types:

    • - gear pumps
    • - lobe pumps
    • - vane pumps
    • - screw pumps
    • - piston pumps

    Flow rate - Our industrial pumps can be:

    • - constant flow pumps
    • - variable flow pumps

    Positioning - The pumps can be positioned in several ways:

    • - surface pump, when the pump is positioned out of the liquid that must be handled, and it operates through a pipe called "suction pipe";
    • - submersible, when the pump is immersed in the liquid to be moved;
    • - integrated, when the pump is not an independent element and must be fitted in a machine: for example, thermal power station pumps, or automobile water pumps, also used for timing belt tensioning;
    • - purging pumps, which are hybrid pumps, that is similar to surface and submersible pumps. They can be submerged, but do not need to be completely covered by the liquid to be able to work properly and be cooled. They usually cannot lift very high.

    POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT PUMPS

    Positive displacement pumps exploit the change in volume or the displacement of a chamber for moving the fluid.

    The main types of positive displacement pumps are:

    • - Piston pumps, where the change in volume is obtained with the reciprocating sliding of a piston in a cylinder (for example just like bicycle pumps).
    • - Diaphragm or membrane pumps, use the same principle of a piston pump, with some variations;
    • - Gear pumps, where the change in volume is caused by the engagement of the gear cogs of two gears;
    • - Variable chamber, progressive cavity, lobe or palette pumps;
    • - Peristaltic pumps, which exploit the displacement caused by compressing a flexible a tube.

    FLUID PUMPS

    The movement of a fluid is caused by a mechanical moment induced in the fluid itself. This kind of pump has no need of valves, but has the disadvantage that the flow rate and efficiency become lower with the increase of pressure at the outlet. These pumps sometimes need to be primed, that is to be initialised by filling them with liquid to be able to work properly.

    The main types of fluid pumps are:

    • - Fluid dynamic centrifugal pumps, which exploit the effect of the centrifugal force to move a fluid;
    • - Linear fluid dynamic pumps, such as ejectors;
    • - Magnetic drive fluid dynamic pumps, based on Lorentz force;
    • - Hydraulic ram fluid dynamic pumps, which exploit the water hammer effect.
